02. Agaric & Walker Barnard 'Club Tracks' (We Are)
Walker Barnard and Patrik Skoog met in the summer of 2006 at a back alley falafel stand in Kreuzberg. The hit it off famously and so proceeded to spend the next three days getting to know each other at a rained-out open air event in the suburbs of East Berlin.
Years later, after countless late-nights of lunacy and mutual appreciation, the two friends finally got together in the studio for a little friendly nerd-out. “Let’s keep it casual,” they said, “no expectations.” Neither one could have known that by combining their unique musical superpowers and sixth sense for the funk, that they were about to give birth to a beast.
Within months, the monster was out of its cage, prowling about the dancefloor on Skoog’s own We Are imprint and then again on Jeremy P. Caulfield’s Dumb Unit. Not surprisingly, Skoog and Barnard’s live and DJ sets at Watergate and other clubs in Berlin have been positively off the leash.
In many ways, these two blowhards’ creations are merely an extension of their real-life shenanigans: Freakishly funky sounds that bring out the beast within, inspiring you to dance like nobody’s watching.

Patrik Skoog, AKA Agaric, has been quietly releasing dancefloor bombs on his own label, We Are, for over five years. As one of the youngest veterans of house and techno out of Sweden, he’s had over 100 vinyl releases on labels like Drumcode, most recently stopping the presses with his full-length album on Josh Wink’s Ovum Recordings.
Walker Barnard is a world-class producer and engineer who’s laid down beats for underground hip hop heads, basslines for Motorhead, and even won a Grammy. His recent releases on Jin Choi’s Private Gold label, NYC based Thema and Adjunct Audio have garnered the love of friends and colleagues alike from Los Angeles to Berlin and beyond.
