Resident Advisor has reviewed Dana Ruh's "Kickboxing EP" on Buzzin' Fly. In his review, Daniel Petry sums up the EP, "The word "functional" can have connotations of drabness, but this EP is functional in the best way possible."
"Straightforward in execution, deadly in effect." Dana Ruh's "Kickboxing" EP out on Buzzin' Fly has been reviewed by Time Out New York.
In his review, Bruce Tantum writes. "The title track is the release’s most sensuous number; its laid-back
groove and late-night vibe are emphasized by subdued female vocal
samples and far-away synths. “This,” with its Roland TB-303 bleeps and
rat-a-tat snares, is something of an acid-house throwback—but Ruh
softens the harshness that’s often associated with old-school acid,
using a warmer, rounder tonal quality. (As a bonus, the cut’s high hats
are way cool.) “What I’m Telling You,” another track featuring floating,
distant vocals, is a mellower, aqueous version of the kind of deep-tech
sound that made the Objectivity label’s name, while set closer “That”
is a pure and simple jack track, perfect for one of those mythical 6am
basement parties that we always hear about, but never get invited to. It
all may be a bit too straightforward for some—there’s little in
the way of bells and whistles on hand here—but that clarity, that
confidence in house’s ability to work it’s magic without much in the way
of embellishment, is the root of Kickboxing’s power."

Resident Advisor has reviewed Vahagn's newest EP "Relapse" on Buzzin' Fly with a remix by Dana Ruh. In his review, Philip Sherburne writes, "Dana Ruh's remix isn't a radical intervention,
but she toughens the tune up considerably by sweeping away the cobwebbed
middle frequencies and augmenting the rhythm with punchy 808s and
judiciously used sampled drum fills; what it sacrifices of the
original's dreamy spirit it makes up for in oomph."

Resident Advisor has just announced that Damian Lazarus' upcoming "Get Lost 4" mix on Crosstown Rebels includes the track "Night Till Dawn" by Dana Ruh.
Born and raised in the German small town Gera, Dana Ruh soon found her way to the capital Berlin. Besides her daytime job she got herself into the beat and sound of the vibrating music scene where she started her steadily rising career as a DJ in 2005. Since then she experimented with electronic, house and techno music to find her own incomparable sound. Not only her DJing got her more and more into bigger venues, also her musical output as a producer let her to regular releases on labels like Einmaleins und Rippertonʻs Perspectiv. She also contributed remixes to the Swiss Label Mina Records, the Danish Connect Four and American Clink Records. That led to a wider attention in the European and overseas techno market and strengthened her name as an German artist, which from that point on could not be disregarded.
Above all this she founded in 2007 her own record label Brouqade together with a friend. The two ladies intended to completely devote their long-lived experience within the realms of djing & producing and urban nightlife to the release of electronic music in the sound spectrum of clear Techno and House. Brouqade Records also featured videos of their artistʻs tracks which have been well recognized on respective plattforms. All her forthcoming EPs were released on that label and new talents such as Danilo Schneider and Benjamin Fehr were featured as well.
Her own musical development ushered her to new collaborations with well-known DJs. In 2010 she produced together with Cocoonʻs André Galuzzi for Ostgut Ton in Berlin. The EP „Mauersegler“ cracked the dancefloors and tracks from that EP have been put on different compilations. Out of this work the both artist created there own record label Aras in early 2011 to build a platform for their productive liaison and support new talents.
Yet she has not hestitated to explore musical possibilities in her studio with her machines to continue her solo work. While evolving new sounds and tracks Dana Ruh hit some spectacular signings with Ben Wattsʻ Buzzinʻ FLy and put a track on a Various Artists on Crosstown Rebels. As well there will be her own new releases on Aras and Brouqade. Make sure to expect some musical gemstones in the second half of 2011 to be released….Coz Diamondʻs are that girlʻs best friends.
