That Ginger Ponytail reviewed on Del Jardin Latino

Aug 12th 2011

That Ginger Ponytail reviewed on Pulse Radio

Aug 8th 2011

Guti and Davide Squillace have come together to mark the tenth release on Hideout Records with That Ginger Ponytail (available exclusively on Beatport here.) Out on the forth of August the EP features remixes from Dubfire and Kerri Chandler. After having spent time up close and personal in the studio, who better to interview the two producers than each other?

Davide: Name five reasons why you love Buenos Aires and five reasons why you love Düsseldorf? Guti: I love Buenos Aires because of its chaos and creativity, it's a dangerous jungle full of music, my family and my friends. I love Düsseldorf because it's my new home, for Dice and the gang, for Desolat, for the peace I´ve got there, and also because I love theThai restaurant Prickinu, it makes me really happy every sunday night.

If you found the famous Genie of the lamp and had three wishes, what would they be? I love my life as it is and wouldn't change anything i´ve done so far. Although if I could write the song that will last forever.Maybe that would be my wish. I would use my wishes so every kid in the world gets food and shelter every day, education and a good future, and maybe if i have one left, a night with Scarlet Johanson

Which would win the battle; Japanese, Peruvian or Italian food? Mmmm. I would say Peruvian or Japanase, but then you go to Naples and try those giants mozzarelas with prosciutto, and bam!

And Davide is.... A great friend, inspirational character and I'm happy to have him in my life.

Guti: How was for you with to work with a monster like me, and how did you manage to keep me from destroying your studio? Davide: I actually had to redo my apartment after having you here for a week. You should come and check the new area here.

You are an old cat (even though you are super young!) How you do to keep your energy levels so high after so many years making music? I guess the passion is the main reason, but also all the people that you meet in this environment inspire you in different ways.

Complete the sentence, Guti is....Guti is a Hijo de Puta!

Seems not so long ago when Davide Squillace and Luca Bacchetti joined forces to create HIDEOUT ... next thing you know ,tenth release is ready to release ... time flies . For this new record , Davide teamed up with his long time friend Guti ( Desolat , Supplement Facts , Crosstown rebels ...) That Ginger ponytail starts with with complex latin percussion patterns , followed with a catchy vocal hook and some african style vibes . On the flip side , techno legend Dubfire delivers a crazy dub techno remix while house legenz Kerri Chandler used more of the latin feel and added some typical chicago organ . A must have for all deejays !!

Patrick Lindsey is no newcomer. Active in the techno world since more than a decade, releasing music on labels like Terminal M, Kanzleramt, Kling Klong, SCI_TEC to name a few. So when Davide Squillace and Luca Bacchetti received a demo from the German producer, they were really impatient to open the zip fi le and discover what was inside.

Interview with Davide Squillace

Davide is not available for comment. He’s got to catch a flight; he’s rushing to the studio; the stage manager is frantically hurrying him into the booth; he’s meeting to discuss plans for his labels…or any of the other myriad reasons why Davide feels like he hasn’t slept, eaten or stopped running for what seems like his whole life.
