"Straightforward in execution, deadly in effect."  Dana Ruh's "Kickboxing" EP out on Buzzin' Fly has been reviewed by Time Out New York.

In his review, Bruce Tantum writes. "The title track is the release’s most sensuous number; its laid-back groove and late-night vibe are emphasized by subdued female vocal samples and far-away synths. “This,” with its Roland TB-303 bleeps and rat-a-tat snares, is something of an acid-house throwback—but Ruh softens the harshness that’s often associated with old-school acid, using a warmer, rounder tonal quality. (As a bonus, the cut’s high hats are way cool.) “What I’m Telling You,” another track featuring floating, distant vocals, is a mellower, aqueous version of the kind of deep-tech sound that made the Objectivity label’s name, while set closer “That” is a pure and simple jack track, perfect for one of those mythical 6am basement parties that we always hear about, but never get invited to. It all may be a bit too straightforward for some—there’s little in the way of bells and whistles on hand here—but that clarity, that confidence in house’s ability to work it’s magic without much in the way of embellishment, is the root of Kickboxing’s power."
